What is the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD?
The Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD is a quarterly released product that allows customers with limited or no
internet access to receive important Y2K information pertaining to Microsoft
products. Depending on the language version, the CD contains some or all of the
following:
- A static version of the Microsoft Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure & Resource Center Web site, as of 1 April, 1999.
- Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer.
- Microsoft Year 2000 Product Workbook and Year 2000 Updates for
Microsoft products: Windows Office 95 & 97, Windows NT, IE 4.0, MS Works, Excel Date Migration Wizards.
Who can receive the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD?
Anyone can receive this free Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD simply by subscribing online or by calling the
numbers listed below.
New features on the Year 2000 Resource CD
With each release of the
Resource CD, we attempt to increase the selection of information, tools and
product updates. Some recent improvements are:
The AutoRun UI has been designed and installed which allows for simple installation of the
appropriate software upgrades and easy navigation of web content and other
information. In future releases, the AutoRuns functionality will be expanded
to support new content and to guarantee a positive user experience.
The Microsoft Year 2000 Product Analyzer searches your system for Microsoft products and provides a report with Year 2000 information.
The Microsoft Year 2000 Product Workbook allows the end user to
peruse through the available Microsofts product compliance status reports.
Please note that not all content will be available in each language version of the CD. The first foreign language release will be
in July 1999.
US and Canadian customers:
Domestic US and Canadian customers can become subscribers to the Microsoft Year 2000 Resource CD in two ways. They can call toll-free 1-888-MSFT-Y2K to register or they may go to www.microsoft.com/regwiz/wiz740.asp and register through the online registration wizard.
International customers:
International customers can also subscribe via the same Y2K Resource CD registration wizard. While the
order form is in English now, it will be localized for country specific
languages and then provided to each of the MS country subsidiaries for their
own MS Web site. In addition, international customers can contact their local
Microsoft subsidiary to subscribe to the Resource CD. Below is a list of
